Chapter 15 Page 13

Pieter thinks Snow’s quest is impossible. Love, empathy, and compassion are human emotions. It’s not in a spirit’s nature. For you long-sufferring readers waiting for Snow’s return, please for vote Snow by Night on Top Web Comics. There’s a treat there for you.

Balticon is this weekend. Steph and I will be there with all our books! Come by and see us! Since we’re all out this weekend and Monday is Memorial Day, we will not be posting a page on Monday. Our next page is on Wednesday.

NPR is hosting its Summer Graphic Novels Reader Poll! I love NPR, and I love Snow by Night. Help me bring them together. Please consider nominating Snow by Night! You can nominate up to 5 times, so you can share your support with other comics too. I’m a huge fan of Spinnerette.

Chapter 15 Page 12

It’s time for a MONTAGE! *dances* It’s been a bit since Snow told her story so a quick refresher was needed. I thought Julie and Steph did an amazing job capturing so much in so few images. Go Team Artist!

Pieter does what any good wizard… er I mean philosopher would do at this point. Vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics to see what that is.

Balticon in 4 days! YIKES! I need to start organizing things. If you like sci-fi and fantasy books, this is a great convention. Highly recommend!

Pieter meets the crew! Each member intrigues him for a different reason: Elk the studious, Kit the curious, and Blaise the promise-keeper. Pieter’s response means that it’s story time! Watch me and Julie summarize Snow’s quest in a single page. You can check out the lines when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Balticon is next weekend! Steph and I will be there with a lot of books! I hoped to have Vol 1 printed by then, but I decided to have almost-cancer instead. So the books are still at the printer, being mooshed together. I hope to have them in time for AwesomeCon next month!

Talons-that-Seek shakes off the shackles of slumber and names Jassart his spirit dancer. See the fire manitou take flight when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

I’ve added Balticon to our list of conventions for the summer. I like this convention. It’s a sci-fi/fantasy literary con with lots of great writers and some incredible programming.

IT AWAKES! Will this be a problem for Jassart? See his reaction when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

A big applause to Philadelphus for predicting the dialogue on this page. That was amusingly on point. I got a huge chuckle out of it. It made my incision hurt, but totally worth it. Also, a tip of the hat to all of you who mentioned the proximity of fire as necessary. That’s part of the solution, but not all of it….

Since I now know I’m going to be around to travel this summer (Wheeeeeee!), the convention line-up is solidifying. I’ve added Awesome-Con, Otakon, and Baltimore Comic-Con to the convention schedule.

The pages for the next vignette by Robin Childs are starting to roll in. You all are in for a treat.

Chapter 14 Page 13

Mathilde dresses for the kill when she visits Cienan. Yet he seems unconcerned. What does Mathilde have planned? Vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics and see for yourself!

Steph and I are back from Indigenous ComicCon. What a great show! About 1,000 people attended, which is pretty good for a first-year con. Things went very smoothly. Lee Francis did an amazing job organizing it. I wanted to go to ALL the panels. They were that good. One of my favorite was run by Jonathan Joss, who is the voice of John Redcorn on King of the Hill and plays Ken Hotate on Parks & Rec. I’m looking forward to going back next year!

On a humorous side note, the cramp in my calf muscle was so bad that TSA picked it up on their scanner and had to pat down my leg every time I went through security. One of them even commented, “Man, that’s a serious cramp.” It’s doing much better today. It’s almost gone. Just a bit more stretching.

Chapter 14 Page 11

For more about the Daughters of the King, read the Ch2 Vignette.

Oh no! Fraud and malfeasance! The threat is in the air. Hanging there. Waiting to fall like a sword. Mathilde is not one to take that lying down. She breaks out her best weapon which you can see when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

I went to the doctor this morning. It is indeed a severe muscle cramp from overuse. I guess I shouldn’t have carried the sleeping 6-year-old from Cinderella’s Castle all the way back to the hotel at Disney then sit in a cramped airplane then go back to my running regimen at the gym. The leg is feeling much better. I need to stretch it, roll it, and take some Ibuprofen.

I wish over-the-counter pain medication was more descriptive for what it actually does. I get generics and they’re all labeled as “pain relief.” Well, what kind of pain? That matters! The answer is to look for the active ingredient. Here’s my handy cheat sheet. There are some overlap, but this works well for me.

  • Ibuprofen – muscle pain and cramps
  • Naproxen Sodium – swelling and inflammation
  • Acetaminophen – headaches and fevers

Indigenous ComicCon is coming this weekend! You really should attend if you can. Or grab their virtual pass! Steph and I are going as Sponsors! I’ll be taking my camera and a ton of pictures. It’s going to be a great show.

Chapter 14 Page 10

Cienan and Mathilde continue their courtier dance. The knives are out. What’s at the center of it all? Vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics and find out.

I almost didn’t make this post today. I’ve been doing a lot of exercising at the gym. I’m going for a lot of reasons — almost all of them health-related. I don’t talk about it much or post photos of it because this is personal to me and I don’t really feel like sharing it with the world. Anyway, I must have overdone it last week. My IT band was cramping horribly since Saturday. This morning was really bad. I couldn’t walk. I’ve been stretching, rolling, soaking in the hot tub, and taking ibuprofen. I was able to do something between a hop and a limp to get over her to the computer to do the update.

Indigenous Comic Con is this weekend! I really hope I get my leg straightened out by then. I’ll be attending the convention along with Steph and I’m really looking forward to all of it!
