Chapter 14 Page 6

Your guesses paid off! Gold stars to all the readers who saw figured out who was strolling down the gangplank. For the rest of us, let me re-introduce Marguerite d’Emperset. She last appeared in Vivienne’s vignette Losing by Winning waaaaaaay back in Chapter 5. That vignette was done by S.Y. Lee, one of my guest artists. So there is an art shift between the vignette and the main story and Marguerite looks a bit different.

You can imagine how well this is going to go between Viv and Marguerite. If you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics, you don’t have to imagine. ;-)

Chapter 14 Page 5

The Saronnan fleet arrives in Sherbourg. It brings guns and ships and so the story shifts. It also brings a most unwelcome surprise for Vivienne. When you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics, you can see for yourself what that surprise is.

Such a lovely ship. Julie does great ships. I’d ask her to draw more ships, but I think she’d kill me. They’re very intricate and take a long time to draw properly.

Chapter 14 Page 4

Duty calls for Vivienne but she leaves Jassart with a final plea. We shall see what becomes of it later. For now, we follow Vivienne to the docks. Do you like tall ships of the Age of Sail? Julie drew a great one! Check it out when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics!

My other project, Tattered Weave, launched its Open Beta last week. We’re already up to 1,000 registered users! It’s a free-to-play virtual pet site. Check it out!

Chapter 14 Page 3

Jassart is not happy with that mask. Not one bit. He is happy to see Vivienne though! Their relationship continues on the sly. You get to see a tender moment when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

A quick refresher. Antoine Dupuis is a savant at the university. We last saw him on Chapter 10, Page 16.

Indigenous Comic Con is coming up! Snow by Night is a proud sponsor of this convention. Come join us in Albuquerque in November. It’s going to be an awesome gathering of native artists and native-centric stories. Lee Francis of Native Realities has put together quite the show!

Chapter 14 Page 2

The alchemist is Claude Amaury, Bertrande’s former apprentice. If you don’t recognize him, I don’t blame you. We last saw him all the way back in Chapter 6 Page 10.  He’s not the brilliant alchemist that his master was, but he has the advantage of still being alive.

A certain partnership is still going strong! See who it is when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Chapter 14 Page 1

Who is that? Where is she? What is she doing? Some of you may recognize her. The answers await inside Chapter 14 Revelations and a Nocturne.

Something else will be playing a staring role this chapter. You can see what that is when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Chapter 13 v10

An interesting wrinkle in English, the contraction “you’re” can stand for “you are” or “you were.” You can’t tell the tense without context. In a title, there aren’t any such context clues. I took advantage of that for this vignette so that the title could be read either way. There are two council fires in this vignette. One happened a century ago at White Oak. The other is happening this night around a campfire along the Mauritz River. One past tense; one present.

My thanks to Mittie Paul for illustrating this vignette! She did fantastic job with this vignette that ventured from serious to silly to poignant. Thank you, Mittie!

Chapter 14, which is titled Revelations and a Nocturne, begins on Wednesday! You can see Julie’s lines for the chapter cover when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Chapter 13, Page v9

Toothy Kit tells us the real reason the elders decided the newcomers were human.  And it’s her! She’s the reason. Well, an earlier version of her from a previous generation. Only one more page to go! Mittie has a preview when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Long Vigil’s words on this page are from our world’s history. I jotted this down as a note while doing my research. I believe the speaker is Teganissorens, an Onandaga elder, and this was in the many councils that would lead to the Great Peace of Montreal which ended about 100 years of intermittent warfare throughout the northeastern woodlands. When I first read them, I knew I had to include them into Snow by Night somehow. It perfectly captures one of the themes of this story.
