Birds of a Feather Page 9

April 27th, 2014

Blaise and Jassart wheel their ill-gotten gains through Sherbourg on Birds of a Feather Page 9. However, Ald smells a rat.

To see the fantastic ultry-sultry look that Shazzbaa drew for Mathilde for the next page, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

The last page of the vignette is this Wednesday. This concludes Volume 2 of Snow by Night. I have several important announcements regarding the future of Snow by Night. First, after the vignette Snow by Night will be going on hiatus until Monday June 30. During that time, we will not be posting pages or almanac updates, but we will be posting design work as discussed below.

Second, my line artist Brittany Michel is leaving Snow by Night at the end of Volume 2 to pursue other artistic opportunities. I want to thank Brittany for all her contributions to Snow by Night. I’ve loved having her on the project, and she is a wonderful woman to work with. I wish her all the best in the future. She has started up her own studio at Bad Carrot Studios or you can find her on her Facebook page as well. Head over there to see some of the neat pieces she’s creating. She’s been working on her Gallifreyan for you Dr. Who fans.

This brings me to my third  announcement. The new line artist for Volume 3 is incredibly talented Julie Wright. You may know her from the Chapter 6 vignette, Winter Fantasy. She is also the colorist of The Dreamer and the creator of Ianua. Julie is currently working on the character designs for Volume 3. I’ll be posting some of her design work during the hiatus. So check back in with us to see the exciting new ideas that Julie has in mind for us.

My last announcement — when we come back from hiatus, the website will be getting a new look. I’ve been talking to my web design brain trust about ways to make our webpage more interesting and engaging. They’ve got a lot of ideas that we’ll be implementing.

Thank you all for joining me on this ride so far. I’ve got lots more to share. When we return from hiatus, the story will pick up with Blaise and what happens after that fateful night at the laboratory. We’re just getting started.

    Shakespeare, or Zork?

I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you all for the kind wishes and the luck. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly with the surgery. The doctors are very optimistic.

Best wishes for your daughter’s surgery.

Jassart was likable at first. He really was, but then he started to change when Snow came into the picture, and not for the better.

When he and that alchemist tried to destroy Snow, a true innocent being, then followed it up by attacking Blaise that was the straw that broke the camels back.

I don’t want him to die, but I do want him to have the heaviest, meanest dose of reality that he can be slapped across the face with.

“He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.”

Another one of my favorite comics going on hiatus? Noooooooooooooooooo…

Nah, just kidding. We’ll see ya at the end of June, and I both wish Brittany well, and look forward to welcoming Julie. I’ve enjoyed her work on The Dreamer, and can’t wait to see what she’ll bring to Snow by Night.

See ya on the other side, and as always, thanks for your great work!

Yeah, my apologies for the hiatus. Julie’s moving, I’m moving, and my daughter is scheduled for a heart surgery in June. It was necessary to take the extra month to get all our ducks lined up. I didn’t want to restart and then start missing updates. This should give us a nice big buffer for Chapter 9. Check back every Monday, as I’ll be uploading some of the concept designs, color choices, and even the new lettering font.

100% understandable, and no apologies necessary. I honestly would rather have a hiatus and a well-buffered, well-done comic than a hasty, erratic series of updates because you were struggling to keep up.

You do what you need to to take care of your own. Prayers and well-wishes for the moves and especially your daughter’s surgery. :)
