IT AWAKES! Will this be a problem for Jassart? See his reaction when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

A big applause to Philadelphus for predicting the dialogue on this page. That was amusingly on point. I got a huge chuckle out of it. It made my incision hurt, but totally worth it. Also, a tip of the hat to all of you who mentioned the proximity of fire as necessary. That’s part of the solution, but not all of it….

Since I now know I’m going to be around to travel this summer (Wheeeeeee!), the convention line-up is solidifying. I’ve added Awesome-Con, Otakon, and Baltimore Comic-Con to the convention schedule.

The pages for the next vignette by Robin Childs are starting to roll in. You all are in for a treat.

Chapter 14 Page 25

No words today. Just action. Please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics to see what happens next.

I just got back from the oncologist. I’m certified cancer free! Well, as certified as I can be. The tumor removed was just severe dysplasia with no evidence of cancer. So I’m being moved to monitoring mode, and I don’t have to do chemo. WOOOOO HOOOO! Yes, yes yes!

The doctor did say this is the only time he has EVER seen this happen. I feel like one lucky son of a bitch. Or in higher register terms, I’m fortunate and blessed. A huge thank you to everyone for all the support for the past couple months.

Chapter 14 Page 23

Three paths lead to Sherbourg. One by sea, one through the forests, and one by river. The river path is blocked by Fort Beffroi. I’m assured by Nicholas, my French translator that the name is a pun on Fort Carillon. What is Fort Carillon? You might know it better by it’s British name – Fort Ticonderoga.

A special shout out to Lori Krell for helping with the map on this page!

Toothy Kit left her mark on this page. Can you see where? And of course please vote for Snow by Night to see Viv and Marguerite plan their strategy.

My health continues to get better. I’ve been to the gym every day since leaving the hospital. Lots of walking and a little cycling. I’ll need all that health. I’ve got lots of plans for 2017, such as:

  • Collect Chapters 1-4 into Volume 1. This will later happen this month.
  • Kickstart the printing of Volume 3
  • Start a Patreon. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, but events keep interfering. Like this whole cancer thing.

Chapter 14 Page 22

Guess who’s got two thumbs and all his organs? This guy! If you’ve been following on social media, then you know recent events with me. If not, here’s the summary. What the doctors thought was a cancerous tumor was actually a high-grade, severe dysplasia (I think I have all the words right). It’s the last step cells make before they become cancerous. This one was caused by a gallstone wedged into my bile duct that was causing chronic inflammation. The surgery was necessary to remove it. When they pulled it out, they got a positive margin and when they tested the removed tissue, it was non-cancerous.

So right now, the doctors don’t believe I have cancer. Instead, I was just about to have cancer. So instead of Stage 1, I was Stage… 0.5? For the immediate future, that means I don’t have to have a Whipple procedure and can keep all my organs (Hurray!). The tumor is off for a full pathology. If the tumor has cancerous cells, then I’m doing chemo. If that comes back as clear, I will not need chemo. They are going to want to scan me for a couple years to make sure this doesn’t come back.

This is better news than the best case scenario I could have hoped for. I’m back home now and happy to be here. This also means that I can start working on the next chapter. Thank you for all the love and support! It really means a lot to me. I continue to be one of the luckiest people I know.

This means the hiatus is over. I’ll be postingit’s Map Time when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
