Snow by Night

I’m very excited to bring you the next of our hiatus previews! Take a look at this lovely sketch of Julie’s redesign for Snow-by-Night.

As you may recall from Chapter 6, Snow-by-Night’s clothes are made of snow and ice, just like she is. In the story thus far, she’s had only one reason to change her appearance, to go among the humans in disguise. Some of the comments have already guessed quite close to the mark on the reason for this new change…

But you’ll have to wait for our return from hiatus on June 30th to find out in the comic!

Today’s hiatus update includes some expressive headshots of Jassart by Julie. As was mentioned in some of the comments, yes, Jassart is now marked by fire. Sticking around in an alchemist’s exploding house has its downsides.

Starting on Monday of next week, we’ll bring you Snow-by-Night’s redesign in the same pattern as Blaise and Jassart: sketch, followed by colors, followed by headshots. Her new look is my personal favorite so far! Julie and Naty did an amazing job.

Diane here again to bring you Naty’s colors for Jassart’s redesign. Those clothes look like a bit of an upgrade… and show that Jassart has also discarded the matching sashes of his crew.

On Friday we’ll be posting some headshots of Jassart by Julie, and then next week we’ll present Snow-by-Night’s redesign!

Hello, everyone, web-alchemist Diane here reporting in for duty while Eric’s away! Continuing our previews of Julie and Naty’s redesign for the main cast, today I bring you a sketch of Jassart. You may notice the fire has left its mark.

I’ve also rearranged the preview pages so that now each image is on a separate page connected to the Journal post, so you can continue to leave comments on the previews until we come off hiatus.

As with last week’s sneak peek, I’ll post Naty’s colors for Jassart on Wednesday and some headshots by Julie on Friday. Next week, you get to see our titular character’s redesign! I know I’ve been missing Snow-by-Night. Do you think the fire’s changed her, too?

While Eric is busy packing up for Katsucon tomorrow, I’ve taken over updating the Almanac for him tonight! Take a look at the alchemical processes of calcination and dissolution, two opposite transformations to the water in a substance.

Whoops. Looks like Blaise’s plan didn’t work out so well on Chapter 8 Page 11. Time for plan B! Or is it C, now? Either way, Jassart’s not having it – and a blade’s been drawn. Hello, everyone! This is Diane here, reporting in for duty while Brittany and Eric pack for NekoCon tomorrow! If you’re attending, please swing by the Artist Alley to say hello and check out our awesome merchandise – or just bother Brittany and Eric. They need a good bothering at conventions.

NekoCon may also be the last chance to pick up one of our Snow-by-Night business cards, since Brittany has worked on some new artwork to replace the cards that were first designed during Chapter 1. Today’s post features Blaise’s illustration, which includes a bit of symbolism that you’ve probably picked up on in the story thus far.
