Almanac – Manes

January 29th, 2015

Today’s Almanac entry is Manes. These are the vanished lesser spirits of Japathe. What has become of them? Why did they seemingly slip away? The philosophers have no answers to these questions. And so I leave the theorizing to you, the readers.

Chapter 10, Page 8

January 27th, 2015

Jassart tells Vivienne about the spirits of Everique on Chapter 10 Page 8. So Japethe did have manitou, or manes, once upon a time. Whatever happened to them? Ponder, ponder, ponder.

Chapter 10 Page 7

January 25th, 2015

Jassart makes an educated guess and it pays off on Chapter 10, Page 7. He better be careful when playing games with the First Estate of Sherbourg. He could end up dead. Which might not be such a bad thing. Jassart has quite the story for Viv. To see an glimpse of it, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Almanac – Travois

January 23rd, 2015

Hi gang. I’m back, and I think I’m on the mend. My nose has finally stopped running and I’m no longer sleeping 16 hours a day. Anyway, I was conscious enough to letter a couple pages and write the almanac entry. This week’s entry is the Travois! My choice may have had a lot to do with me feeling like Blaise and wanting to be dragged everywhere.

Have a great weekend, everyone. I’ll see you all for Monday’s update when we see how Jassart answers Viv’s question. I see several of you have thoughts on that.

Chapter 10, Page 6

January 21st, 2015

Jassart learns the identity of his mysterious caller on Chapter 10, Page 6. Vivienne has some questions after the last time she visited Jassart – well, one question in particular. It seems Jassart guessed that she might. To see Jacqueline’s opinion of Jassart, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics for a sneak peek at the next page.

Eric has returned from his trip, but he was so jet-lagged and sick that he’s in no shape to post anything today. Hopefully he’ll recover in time for Friday’s update, or else I’ll show up with fake spoilers to cover for him! (Chapter 84: It Was Actually A Dream All Along)

Chapter 10, Page 5

January 18th, 2015

We return to Sherbourg on Chapter 10, Page 5 just in time for Jassart to leave the hospital. Though Jassart has a strict policy about getting into carriages for a mysterious rendezvous with unknown people, his policy apparently has a clause for pronouns. To see a sneak peek of his impending rendezvous, check out Julie’s tumbnails of the next page by voting for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Almanac – Evensong Bard

January 15th, 2015

Diane here, reporting in for duty while Eric’s out of town. Today’s almanac entry is Evensong Bard, the manitou of autumn. He’s a gentle, thoughtful spirit of reward and plenty. With this entry, the spirits of the seasons are complete in the almanac. Not to worry – there are more manitou still to appear in our story…

Come back on Monday to find out what Jassart and the rest of the Sherbourg cast are up to! You can sneak a peek at Julie’s thumbnails by voting on Top Web Comics, and I’ll give you one extra special sneak peek by quoting a line from the coming page: “I’m not at liberty to say.”

Chapter 10, Page 4

January 13th, 2015

The Liranquois accede to Snow’s demands on Chapter 10, page 4. Yes, that means our adventure will be heading down into Liranequoia. I didn’t think I could tell a story on the colonial frontier of fantasy North America without showing the native nations, but that’s not until Chapter 11. On Monday, we return to Jassart and the Sherbourg crew. To see Julie’s thumbnails for the next page, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic.

I’ll be out of town this weekend for my nephew’s baptism. Diane will be handling things while I’m away so we’ll be continuing with our normal schedule.
