Chapter 1 Page 26

April 26th, 2011

Almanac Reference: Belle, Claudine Nareau

Page 26 is up. We return to the Harp & Trumpet where Jassart gets himself in trouble. Just a reminder, we do have a Facebook page and a Twitter feed. Brittany loves to tweet so you’ll get a stream of conscious thoughts from the artist. I highly recommend it.  I make announcements on Facebook so it’s a great way to stay up to date.

Aaaaand, I’ve uploaded a preview of Page 27 as an incentive on Top Web Comics. Please vote for Snow by Night.

You may have noticed the statue on pages 24 and 25. That statue is of Jaquet d’Artais – founder of Sherbourg. This week’s Almanac entry gives you some background on the man who created the city that is the setting for Snow by Night. He can be found under the Historical section of People.

Chapter 1 Page 25

April 19th, 2011

Almanac References: Arcaneaux, D’Accord, Go Fart in the Clover

Added Page 25 today. Ald and Blaise continue their discussion of Blaise’s “loan.” I love what Brittany did with the two children building the snowman in the background.

Convention season is fast approaching. Brittany and I will be attending Balticon over Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30), where we will have a table in Artists’ Alley. We will have a number of new items for sale, including our introductory book — and buttons! In addition, we’ll be part of a panel on Friday night to discuss “Making a Graphic Novel Webcomic” along with Jennifer Zyren Smith of LaSalle’s Legacy and Barb Fischer of Sledgebunny. Make plans to come see us!

Lastly, I’ve uploaded a preview of Page 26 as an incentive on Top Web Comics. Please vote for Snow by Night.

Almanac – Ald

April 17th, 2011

One Riot; One Ald. This week’s Almanac entry is Ald Baillon – the Law of the Riverside. You can find him under “Rulers” in the People section of the Almanac. He’s a major character in the Riverside so he even has a listing under Cast.

Chapter 1 Page 24

April 12th, 2011

Almanac References: Ald BaillonBlessings, Riverside District

And Page 24 is up. We get to meet one of my favorite characters: Ald. He’s a gendarme (policeman) who is responsible for keeping the peace in the Riverside District. His name came about when Brittany was designing a custom 404 page. I wanted her to draw a picture of a gritty gendarme ready for action. She produced this great drawing of a bearded man holding a lantern up while scowling. Brit and Amy started calling him “Angry Lantern Dude.” It was only a couple short steps from there to A.L.D. and finally Ald.

I uploaded a new incentive panel on Top Web Comics. To see a sneak peek at next week’s page, please vote for Snow by Night.

Almanac – People

April 10th, 2011

The entry for this week’s Almanac update is Laurent Rivière. He is a thief and rival sharp to Jassart. He can be found under the Rogues heading of the People section. He also appears on the Cast page. Please enjoy learning more about another member of the Sherbourg underworld.

In other news, it’s been a very busy week for Snow by Night. Brittany has finished all the pages for chapter 1. I’m putting the finishing touches on the script for Chapter 2. I have also started receiving pages from Eric Schneider for the the vignette that follows chapter 1. His art is breathtaking. I am also in the final negotiations with another artist to do a vignette that follows Chapter 2. So many stories are coming. It’s going to be a great summer.

Chapter 1 Page 23

April 6th, 2011

Almanac References: Giavere’s GazeThe Heavens, Providence, Snipping

Page 23 posted. The action moves back to the House of Jacks, where Jassart makes a discovery that he has trouble believing. Will Blaise and Jassart find the elusive thief? Only 5 more pages are left in Chapter 1, so they better hurry.

Speaking of chapters, I’m going to begin posting two pages per week starting with Chapter 2. Comic pages will post every Monday and Wednesday, and I will post a new Almanac entry every Friday. Only one page a week was too slow for me. I have so much I want to share with you all. This update schedule will let me spin the tale twice as fast. My thanks to Brittany and Ricky for stepping up for the additional drawing and coloring.

Finally, I’ve uploaded a new panel from page 24 as an incentive. Please vote for us on Top Web Comics.

Almanac – Gambling

April 3rd, 2011

The almanac entry this week is gambling. Come learn about the games of chance played in Sherbourg, including dice, cards, and the newest creation – roulette! Where did this passion for gambling originate? Why are the gambling dens called hells? Be prepared to back up your wagers with coin, because debtors aren’t tolerated.
