Brittany and I just got back from Pittsburgh Comicon. We had a fantastic time and met a lot of great artists and fans. I’ll do a more extensive con report on Wednesday when I’m not running on emergency auxiliary power. My thanks to Diane for doing the update on Friday and winning the award for Most Rambling-est Journal Entry of the Year. And it’s Rendez-vous, Diane. It’s in the almanac. :-p
Chapter 4 Page 3 is up. Blaise and Jassart take their leave of Cienan and Ald picks up after them. To see a preview of what befalls Laurent vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Chapter 4 Page 2 is up. Jassart tries to explain to Cienan why the trap isn’t needed any more. Looks like Cienan is buying it. To see a sneak peak of the aftermath of Jassart’s bill of sale, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Pittsburgh Comicon this weekend. Britt and I hope to see you there!
Chapter 4 Page 1
April 15th, 2012The first page of Chapter 4 is up. This chapter is titled What No One Expects. Pencils and inks are by Brittany. Colors by Naty. Editing by Amy. Story and lettering by Ericy. Wait, I don’t like how that sounds at all.
As you can see, we continue our process of switching over to Cochin Archaic from Caswallon. Just too many swirl attacks. Page 2 goes up on Wednesday. To see a glimpse of what Blaise and Jassart are up in this chapter, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic.
We are at Pittsburgh Comicon is this weeknd. If you’re attending, please stop by and say hello. Need help finding us? I’ve prepared this handy dandy map for the occasion.
Almanac – Line Infantry
April 5th, 2012This week’s Almanac entry is Line Infantry – the basic building block of the Japethic army. They do the bulk of the fighting and the bulk of the dying. On the battlefields of Japethe, their might is unmatched, but in the forested wilderness of Everique, they are severely hampered.
Diane and I attended VA Comicon last Sunday. It was a fun time and we met a lot of enthusiastic comic fans. We also met a great webcomic creator – Scott Markley. He makes the webcomic Unconscious: the Grim Sleeper, but I also really enjoyed his blog Watching William, which is a sweet and amusing blog about his experiences with his girlfriend’s little boy. Great stuff.
Law of the Riverside Page 6
March 27th, 2012Page 6 of Law of the Riverside is up. Mathurin, gendarme of the Riverside, introduces himself with appropriate flair. I positively love the flashback panel that Naty did. For a great shot of the inside of the Three Sheets, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Conventions aplenty coming up. This weekend, Diane and I are heading to VA Comicon in Richmond Virginia. Brittany and I will be attending Pittsburgh Comicon on April 20-22. All three of us will be at Otakon July 27-29.
On a different note, Helen of Narrative Investigations reviewed Snow by Night as part of her Webcomic Review Month. She seemed to enjoy the comic and even mentions our almanac as a bonus. Please, check out her review, and then go read all her other reviews. I did. She’s very insightful. And yes Helen, we will have lots of stories with the side characters. Ald is up right now. After that, I have a story featuring Vivienne, the governor’s daughter.
Almanac – Carbines
March 22nd, 2012This week’s Almanac entry is Carbines – the weapon of choice of the dragoon (and therefore Ald). These nifty shortened muskets don’t have the accuracy of the standard musket, but you can use them from horseback and then let them dangle beside you on a hook and ring attached to a rail on the side of the carbine. Yeah, I geek out about stuff like this. This and historical architecture.
We have a convention coming up soon. Virginia Comicon. April 1 in Richmond. We’ll have chapters 1 and 2 as well as a variety of buttons. Brittany is out of town so I’m dragging Diane our Mad Alchemist Webmistress with me. It’s her first time manning the table. So come by and give her a hard time. I’m sure she won’t mind.
Almanac – Muskets
March 15th, 2012In honor of Ald’s history in the military, this week’s Almanac entry is muskets. Muskets are a necessity in colonial Aradie just like they were in colonial North America. The importance of the musket can be seen by the number of phrases in our language that arose from muskets – lock, stock, and barrel, a flash in the pan, going off half cocked, and drop the hammer.
The Snow by Night team has received an invitation to Intervention on September 21-23 in Rockville, MD. This fabulous convention is a great way to meet a lot of creators of Internet media. It’s not just webcomics. They have a diverse array of guests. I highly recommend coming to check it out.

Page 4 of Law of the Riverside is up. Ald throws down. And he throws down hard. To see a sneak peek of more of the fight, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
The Snow by Night team will also be attending a couple of conventions next month. The first is VA Comicon down in Richmond, Virginia on April 1 (and this is no April Fool’s joke). It’s one day only, but they’ve got some incredible talent attending. I am flattered just to be one the same room as some of these artists.
The next is Pittsburgh Comicon in Pennsylvania on April 20-22. They have list of guests as long as your arm with some impressive artists on it. Come by and meet us in the Steel City.
