Almanac – Crimes of Deception
April 24th, 2014This week’s Almanac entry is the Crimes of Deception – Fraud, Perjury, and Slander. Blaise and Jassart are familiar with all three of them. Oddly enough, slander is not a crime in Saronne. The Crown leaves it up to people to protect their own reputation. This might be short sighted as it leads to a lot of violence in the back alleys and duels among the nobles.
That political shift takes a long time and still hasn’t obtained in some places–maybe never will. Good idea? Don’t know; depends on the culture and circumstances. Witch trials can be pretty ugly. ‘Tis a great scourge on nations, though, when vengeance is a legacy handed from one generation to the next, and there is no accepted way for others to intervene.
