This week’s Almanac Entry covers the Planetary Metals Lead and Tin. They are influenced by the planets Elus (Saturn) and Zenos (Jupiter). More fodder for you artists thinking about submitting to our Art Contest. Deadline is March 15. This is a great chance to show off your art skills and win prizes.

Our real world alchemists believed that lead was influenced by the planet Saturn. Saturn was the Roman name for Chronos, the Titan of Time in Greek mythology. Interesting thing, all elements with a atomic weight heavier than lead are radioactive. Which means that given enough time, they will decompose back to lead. This radioactive decay is one of the most exact timekeepers in existence. Scientists can measure the age of radioactive rocks based on the amount of lead in them. Even today, Saturn’s signature as the keeper of time is felt in science.
