Brittany and I just got back from AWA. It’s been a long couple of weeks between that and the trip to Quebec. It’s been great, but tiring. It’s good to be home where I can get back to work on scripting Chapter 8.

SpiderForest is running a comic of the week program to raise awareness of some of the wonderful comics who are part of the collective. This week, our comic is Sombulus. If you like Terry Pratchett then you’ll love this humorous fantasy adventure.

Inspiration in Quebec – Part 5

September 26th, 2013

In all the hustle and bustle of getting Eric and Brittany back from Quebec and ready to leave for Anime Weekend Atlanta, I’m afraid I didn’t get around to posting the update until a couple hours later than our usual time. Sadly, both Eric and Brittany are already asleep now, or I’d ask for more details on the lovely photos they brought us for today’s update on their inspirational tour Quebec. Eric has been uploading some of their photos to the Snow-by-Night Facebook album here, if you’d like to see more.

In convention news, if you’re going to be at AWA, please stop by to say hello and check out our chapter books and prints available for sale! We have also just received confirmation that we’ll be attending Ohayocon 2014, which has been added to our Upcoming Appearances list on the site.

Inspiration in Quebec – Part 3

September 23rd, 2013

Today our pair of rogues wanted to show off the research they’ve been doing into Blaise’s line of work – lock-picking. Here are a few examples of the many hinges & locks that they’ve studied in Quebec. Hopefully they have the sense not to plan any secret heists with a manitou…

Inspiration in Quebec – Part 2

September 22nd, 2013

Continuing with our tour of Quebec, the city that inspired Sherbourg, today Eric and Brittany bring us pictures of some city buildings. You can see plenty of examples of the firewalls that were built between buildings, which were so thick that they usually had chimneys built in. Back in colonial times, when a hearth was the only option you had to heat your house, there were obviously a lot of fires; firewalls were a necessary precaution against losing whole neighborhoods every time a fire broke out. The buildings also have steep roofs and ladders leading up to them, which was necessary during heavy snowfall.

Inspiration in Quebec

September 19th, 2013

Diane here again to bring you an update on Eric and Brittany’s travels in Quebec! On the main page are three pictures that they took of the Quebec wall, built to protect the city from assault from the landward side. Eric tells me they’re having a great time exploring, scouring the upper city and the lower city for inspirational reference photos.
