Page 9 is up – welcome to the Harp and Trumpet Saloon! It’s one of the many watering holes on Iniquity Row that caters to the sailors, trappers, and scoundrels of Sherbourg. In addition to libations, it offers a variety of entertainment, including performances by the fabulous Mathilde, the star attraction.

A Raging Review

December 24th, 2010

A few months ago, I did some work for Raging Swan Press, called Pazuzu’s Fury, which details a particularly nasty group of harpies for use in fantasy role-playing games. Yesterday, we got a 5-star review on Paizo. I’m positively beaming. The reviewer particularly liked my story see of “The Ugly Duckling.” What is an ugly duckling among harpies? Read the review on Paizo to find out. Or better yet, buy Pazuzu’s Fury from Raging Swan. It’s $2.99 for the pdf. An excellent deal.

Chapter 1 Page 8

December 22nd, 2010

Almanac References: Blessings, Riverside District, Skunked

Page 8 is up. We leave the rich and quiet streets of the Upper City for the raucous nightlife of Iniquity Row in the Lower City. In a port town such as Sherbourg, the bars, saloons, and gambling hells operate late into the night. Brittany and Ricky did a great job capturing the feel.

Jassart uses the term “blessing” in the final panel. This is a the slang term for the Eci, the most common coin used in Sherbourg. Later this week, I’m going to update the Almanac to tell you more about the currency. When your heroes are a couple of thieves, it’s all about the money.

And finally, happy holidays to everyone.  Whatever you celebrate, I hope you all have a joyous celebration.

Chapter 1 Page 7

December 15th, 2010

Almanac Reference: Peste

Page 7 is up and concludes the first scene. Take a look and see how the heist plays out for Blaise and Jassart. I’m very pleased with how Ricky and Brittany made my vision a reality. We seeded all sorts of details in the background. You may have noticed the painting in Dupuy’s study in page 6. That’s based on a real paining of the founding of Quebec by George Agnew Reid.

Next week we head down to the lower city and one of my favorite areas in Sherbourg – Iniquity Row. It’s always a wild time on the Row. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as well.

Chapter 1 Page 6

December 8th, 2010

I just posted page 6.  I love the detail that Brittany added to the background of Dupuy’s office as well as the alchemical lamp.  Kudos to Ricky for capturing the lighting effects so perfectly.

A Farewell and a Hello

December 6th, 2010

Our Webmaster, Shawn Peirce, has done great work in setting up our website and giving us an excellent foundation to start our tale. However, he is leaving the Snow by Night project and pursuing other opportunities. Please join me in wishing him the best in the future.

I have asked Diane Hazlett to take over webmastering duties. Diane has an excellent skill set that is perfect for this position, and she has grand designs for this website.  We’ll be rolling those out later this month. For now, let me introduce her properly:

Diane Hazlett

Webmaster

Diane is a long-time Internet lurker with a memory best described as “a pile of loose Post-It notes that fall out of her head every time she sticks a new one in there.” Despite that, she has a passion for learning and spends most of her free time reading articles, debates, or fiction of various genres. Every weekend she attends one of many ongoing RPG campaigns, usually in the Dungeons & Dragons setting, which has captivated her interest since she first joined her father’s 2e home campaign at age nine. Around the same time, her obsession with Pokemon led to a Neopets addiction, where she dove headfirst into HTML/CSS coding in order to craft sites for her beloved pixel friends, and has been teaching herself IT through trial and error ever since. Her idol and favorite storyteller is Watase Yuu, an internationally famous Japanese manga-ka, whom she dreams of someday meeting. Until then, she is attending Western Governors University full-time, working as an Executive Assistant part-time, and slowly worming her way onto the Snow by Night team through sheer fangirl determination.
