New Almanac Page Format
June 19th, 2011Hi, everyone, Diane here! Today’s update to the Almanac is not in the form of a new entry, but rather a new format that I’ve been working on for a while. Now that I have a month of summer break, I will (hopefully) be bringing a few more interesting site updates.
Eric and I were brainstorming how best to organize the Almanac after deciding our old system just wasn’t going to work. I think this one works out much better, but please let me know what you think! Thanks!
Almanac Entry – Grande Vire River
June 12th, 2011This week’s almanac entry is the Grande Vire River. Since we’re following a myth of the Elakanois in Feathers and Frost, I thought it was appropriate to include some notes about the natural features of Everique. The river is the lifeblood of the colony so I decided to start there.
On a different subject, I’ve uploaded pictures from HeroesCon to the Snow by Night Facebook page. You can either follow the link in this journal entry or click on the little F icon on the side bar to the right underneath the Vote on Top Webcomic graphic.
Almanac – Hot Toddy
June 5th, 2011This week’s almanac entry explores the hot toddy. This mixed drink appeared in page 1 of Feathers and Frost. It’s a delicious drink in cold weather, which it often is in Sherbourg, but it could be made iced for the summer months.
Brittany and I are down at HeroesCon this weekend. It’s been a great show so far. I’ll post a con report when I get back.
Almanac – Victualers’ Guild
May 22nd, 2011This week the Almanac discusses the Victualers’ Guild. The Harp and Trumpet is part of the guild, as are all the saloons in town.
Brittany and I are attending Balticon this weekend. We are sharing a table with Jen Zyren Smith of LaSalle’s Legacy. We’ll have cards books, and our latest creation – 8 different buttons based off the characters in Snow by Night. They are really sharp. So stop by and say hello!
Almanac – Guilds
May 15th, 2011This week I’m switching gears on the Almanac entry from geography to commerce so that I can give the Guilds some much needed attention. These organizations dominate trade and industry in the colony of Aradie. Guild marques have appeared in the backgrounds of several pages in Chapter 1 and we’ll see more of them in Chapter 2.
Almanac – Everique
May 8th, 2011This week’s Almanac entry is Everique – the new world. It’s under the Continents section of Places. This is the continent of Aradie and Sherbourg. It is a rich and fertile land, but it is also wild and dangerous.
Brittany and I are attending Balticon at the end of the month – May 27-30. If you’re attending, please come by and say hello. If you’re not attending, you should consider it. They have a great line-up of guests.
Almanac – Corthis
May 1st, 2011Corthis is the world of Snow by Night. This week’s Almanac entry is full of fun facts about it. For example, the world is not flat, but the sun circles the world! Corthis is under Continents. I know: Corthis is a world, not a continent, but I discuss continents in the article. Also, it was the most logical place to put this information.
And in other news, Ricky and Brittany attended the SCAD Sidewalk Art Festival. They did some lovely chalk drawings of Snow by Night characters. I’ve uploaded the pictures on our Facebook page. I’ll upload more pictures as I get them. Take a look and see the wonderful creations of my artists.
Almanac – Jaquet d’Artais
April 24th, 2011You may have noticed the statue on pages 24 and 25. That statue is of Jaquet d’Artais – founder of Sherbourg. This week’s Almanac entry gives you some background on the man who created the city that is the setting for Snow by Night. He can be found under the Historical section of People.
