Chapter 8 Page 19

February 17th, 2014

Jassart squanders his chance to get the aether on Chapter 8 Page 19. Poor Jassart. He put a human life before aether. Bertrande does not approve. To see a hint of what happens to Jassart next, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

It’s been a busy week in the press department. Two Geeks Talking has uploaded our interview from last Saturday. Kurt asks us all sorts of questions about Snow by Night and webcomics. There’s a spoiler section at the end where Brittany and I give away far too much of what we have in store. And Brittany was interviewed by Katsucon, while she was in the Artist Alley. She does a great job representing us. Way to go, Brittany!

Art Contest! Two weeks to go. Cash prizes to the winners. Glory and honor to all who enter.

Almanac – Alchemical Processes

February 14th, 2014

While Eric is busy packing up for Katsucon tomorrow, I’ve taken over updating the Almanac for him tonight! Take a look at the alchemical processes of calcination and dissolution, two opposite transformations to the water in a substance.

If you’re going to be at Katsucon, make sure to swing by and say hello to Eric and Brittany! They’ll have prints, buttons, and books for sale with a special con discount available. And if you can’t make it to a con near us, you can always check out our online Store for colonial fantasy swag!

We’ll see you on Monday with Jassart’s final decision… Until then, you can still catch a sneak peek over at Top Web Comics.

PS. Don’t forget about our upcoming Art Contest!

Katsucon is this weekend. We’ll be there in the Artist Alley, enticing poor unsuspecting anime fans to read alt history comics. Also, I want to remind everyone about our Art Contest. Share all your arts with us! The Snow by Night Team would love to see what your vision of our characters.

Chapter 8 Page 17

February 10th, 2014

Blaise makes a hasty exit on Chapter 8 Page 17, as the binding circle collapses in itself with nothing to contain. I’m rather happy with the sound effects on this page. The BZAAAAT took several different layers with masks and opacity to work it in right. To see what’s become of Jassart and Bertrande, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics. We’re in the top 15! Wow. We’ve never been this high before. Our thanks to all of you!

An update on our Art Contest! We’ve decided to adopt a theme for this year’s contest. The theme is Alchemy! Submissions should have at least one Snow by Night NPC  and something to do with alchemy. We’re taking a broad view of Alchemy. It can be alchemical theory, processes, the elements, or anything else alchemical related. I’ll even consider astronomy to be part of Alchemy because of the strong influences that the planets have on alchemy. To see what people did last year, check out last year’s Art Contest archive.

Katsucon is this weekend. I’ll be there Friday and Sunday. Brittany will be there all three days. Books, buttons, and prints! Come by and get some merch and wacky conversation.

Brittany and I were interviewed on TGT on Saturday. You can see the interview on YouTube. Brittany is awesome, while I’m showing off my collection of old maps. Kurt, the interviewer, is a great guy and was a lot of fun to talk to.

This week’s Almanac entry is the Three Essentials. The soul of Sulfur and the spirit of Mercury unite to create the body of Salt. Salt provides the form to the consciousness and the life force of its parents, yet it is the result of their existence. In alchemical theory, consciousness creates life and together they beget the body. So René Descartes famous quote “I think therefore, I am.” is literally true for alchemy.

Another interesting fact In alchemical theory. Sulfur represents energy, Mercury represents light. and Salt represents mass. Alchemists understood the relationship between energy, mass, and light as they are the Three Essentials that comprise all existance. This relationship would later be given substance of a scientific equation of Sulfur = Salt x Mercury2. Einstein may have used different notation.

Snow by Night is up to #12 in the Top Web Comics ranking. 12. We’ve never broken the top 20 before. Craziness! Give us a vote on TWC and see if we can break the top 10.

Katsucon is coming up next week. Brittany and I will be there. Well, mostly Brittany. We’ll have books, prints, and buttons. Come by and say hello.

Chapter 8 Page 15

February 3rd, 2014

Blaise takes desperate measures on Chapter 8 Page 15. Go for the eyes, Blaise! Go for the eyes! Where have I heard that phrase before? The vote incentive was a challenge this time. To see what I finally settled on, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

It’s almost time for the Snow by Night art contest. We’ll post rules on Wednesday!

Almanac – The Two Contraries

January 31st, 2014

This week’s Almanac entry is The Two Contraries — Sophic Sulphur and Sophic Mercury. They are the male and female aspects of alchemy. The alchemical version of the yin and the yang. The balance of these two opposing forces drive reality.
