Almanac – Elemental Square of Opposition
January 9th, 2014This week’s Almanac entry is the Elemental Square of Opposition. I’ve described the four elements before. Now we get to see how they interact. And the entry comes with a handy graphic for illustration purposes.
Snow by Night will be at Ohayocon on Jan 24-26. Brittany and her sister Bethany will be manning the table. I will be staying at home this time. My wife and I are expecting our second child this month so no convention trips for me for a bit. If you’re going by Ohayocon, be sure to go by and tell Brittany hello.
And the SpiderForest Webcomic of the week is Damsels Don’t Wear Glasses. Check it out!
Chapter 8 Page 8
January 7th, 2014Jassart explains how this is all for Blaise’s own good on Chapter 8 Page 8. Blaise is having none of it. To see a preview of the next page, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Diane put together some lovely links for our stores on the landing page. The top one leads to our newly available PDFs on DriveThruComics. Larger images, no ads, and no load times for pages. All for $1.99.
Chapter 8 Page 7
January 6th, 2014And we’re back! Happy new year, everyone!
Blaise and Jassart face off while Snow-by-Night remains in the hot seat on Chapter 8 Page 7. Blaise isn’t going anywhere without the manitou. To see a preview of what happens next, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Some big news for Snow by Night. Over the holidays, we’ve created eBooks for purchase that are now available from DriveThruComics. We now have a Snow by Night Publisher Page where you can find PDFs of the first seven chapters. The PDFs feature such things as bigger images, not having to put up with the ads, and not having to click through pages on the archives. They are just $1.99 each.
If you want to read this on the Kindle, you can! Just buy and download the PDF then use the handy dandy Send to Kindle program offered by Amazon. That will send this PDF (and any others you want) to your Kindle and you’re ready to go.
Also, if you enjoy Snow by Night, I ask that you consider writing a review of our tale of colonial fantasy on our DriveThruComics page. You can find the review section under each of the seven chapters. Help us spread the word!
Lastly, we have another SpiderForest Comic of the Week. This time it’s Damsels Don’t Wear Glasses. This fun romp reminds me a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in all the good ways. I’m also partial to ginger heroines so I enjoyed this one.
Almanac – The Lakelands
December 19th, 2013For the final Almanac entry before we go on our holiday break, I discuss the Lakelands. At the heart of northern Everique, the Lakelands are the ecoregion that surrounds the Sweet Seas. It’s the home of several powerful native nations.
Happy Holidays everyone! We’ll see you all in the new year!
Chapter 8 Page 6
December 18th, 2013Guess who managed to find Bertrande’s laboratory on Chapter 8 Page 6? To see a preview of the next page, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
This is the last page this year. We have an almanac entry this Friday and then we’ll be off for two weeks for a brief hiatus over the holidays. If you would like to have a piece of your fan art displayed during our hiatus, please send them to me. See my email addy on the About page.
Fun fact, when Brittany drew this page the sword hilt on the bookcase was obviously a katana. I replied that it had to change. No Samurai Jacques. At least not yet. The search for Catai is what drives so much of the exploration of this age. So Brittany made it a sabre for me.
Don’t forget to check out the SpiderForest webcomic of the week — The Sundown Boys.
Chapter 8 Page 5
December 16th, 2013Bertrande begins the experiment on Chapter 8, Page 5 and Snow-by-Night does not find it a pleasant experience. Run, Blaise, run! To see a preview of the next page, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Next week, we will be on break. If you wish to have a piece of fanart prominently displayed, please send me your creations. You can use my email on the About page. In other news, Minuiko sent over some updated pages for A Life So Free. I’ve updated the pages. They are 7.v1, 7.v3, 7.v4, 7.v7, and 7.v8. The tweaks she made improved the pages noticeably.
The SpiderForest webcomic of the week is The Sundown Boys. Set in an alternate, dystopian future where cities, states, and even countries have succumbed to the richest and most dangerous criminal organizations, Robert, Leon, and Geoffrey Heron work as soldiers and assassins for the DeSaule Organization. After a chance encounter with a girl from Leon’s past, the brothers find themselves swept up in a major conspiracy which will reveal not only a startling secret about the brothers’ abilities, but also long-kept secrets of the DeSaule Organization.
Almanac – Wall of the West
December 13th, 2013This week’s Almanac entry is the Wall of the West. This mountain range rises on the western edge of the Great Grass Sea and bars further exploration into the west. The mountains were inspired by the Rocky Mountains. I have some family out in Denver and on my last visit we saw the Flatirons. They are an intriguing and picturesque mountain formation, and they reminded me of a wall, hemming in the open lands to the east. The image stuck with me so here they are in the world of Corthis.
Denver is also the home of my friend Robin Childs of Leylines. She’s running a Kickstarter for her 3rd Volume. Please join me in supporting her project and bringing this volume to print.
Chapter 8 Page 4
December 10th, 2013Bertrande has Snow-by-Night well in hand on Chapter 8 Page 4. The alchemical seal that Bertrande has drawn on the floor not only prevents the manitou from escaping but from pulling upon the aether to manifest her snow powers. To see what Blaise is up to, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
I also want to give a plug for Robin Childs and her webcomic Leylines. She’s running a Kickstarter project to fund the printing of Volume 3. She is weaving an incredible story with solid characters, excellent pacing, and an intriguing story. Join me in helping her get volume 3 printed and become one of her backers.
Also, don’t forget that we have some opportunities to upload some fanart at the end of the month when we take a brief break for the holidays. I’d love to show of some of the talents of the Snow by Night fan base. Please send me any submissions (email is on the About page), along with the name you want posted and any portfolio links.
And lastly, the SpiderForest webcomic of the week is Supervillainous. Check it out when you have a moment.
