Almanac – Biscuits and Pemmican

September 18th, 2014

This week’s Almanac entry is all about food. Well, pemmican is a food. The biscuits of the 18th century are a food-like object. They are not to be confused with the biscuits of the American South. Those are savory quick breads and have more in common with the scones of the British Islands.

On a different note, I’m planning on doing a Kickstarter for printing Volume 2 later this fall. What sort of rewards would you all be interested in seeing? I’m open to suggestions.

Night falls on Blaise in the forest on Chapter 9 Page 17. The forested wilderness of Everique is a dark and dangerous place, and Blaise is far from the lights of civilization. To see a hint of what happens to Blaise that night, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Chapter 9 Page 16

September 14th, 2014

Blaise quibbles with Paws-Tread-Lightly over how to submerge Snow-by-Night’s eyes on Chapter 9, Page 16. Paws eventually talks Blaise into it — for better or for worse. To see Blaise’s delicious snack, please vote for Snow by Night on TWC.

Convention season is drawing to a close. So we’re offering the convention special for Volume 1 through our online store. This gives Chapters 1-4 for $20. Each issue is 40 pages. So that’s 160 pages of entertainment. They have the chapters, the vignettes, plus some pages a few pages bonus content. It’s quite the deal!

Chapter 9 Page 15

September 9th, 2014

Blaise and Paws-Tread-Lightly reach their destination in the forested winter wilderness of Everique on Chapter 9 Page 15. I love the final panel on this page. Julie and Naty did a brilliant job with it. Oh, and Blaise changed his hat and neckerchief. He’s got two.

See Blaise weighing a difficult decision when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

This weekend is SPX! I’ll be there, sharing a table with all the wonderful creators from SpiderForest.

Chapter 9 Page 14

September 7th, 2014

Ald and Mathilde continue to knock heads on Chapter 9 Page 14. They might both benefit from their arrangement, but it’s not an easy partnership. To see what Blaise and Paws-Tread-Lightly are up to, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

The RSS feed is fixed! Hurray for Steph and Diane for tracking down the problem and smacking it with a Whack-a-Mole hammer.

Almanac – Wandering Spirits

September 4th, 2014

They flit through the air; they swim through the seas. They’re the Wandering Spirits of Corthis in today’s Almanac.

Diane and Steph are still working on the RSS feed. I swear this code is possessed. Every time we try to fix the feed, the site breaks. Last time, the server name changed on us and we were down for a week. This time, one of our link exchange banners decided to take forever to resolve, which made debugging impossible. So we go that issue resolved (and in only one night. hurray!), but that ate up all the time we had this evening. We’ll try again tomorrow.

Oh, Éloise was interviewed at GenCon by Dwarven Tavern w hile she was manning the Snow by Night table. You can see the interview here. Éloise was definitely one of the catalysts for this story. She may have been part of the inspiration for Mathilde.

Chapter 9 Page 13

September 2nd, 2014

Scene shift! Ald has important business with one of his chief informants on Chapter 9 Page 13. His chief informant is who? Really? To see his informant giving him some backtalk, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic.

Oh, do you see the banner at the top? One of Snow by Night’s fans published a book — Sword of the Bright Lady. It’s the story of an engineer who falls into another world and another time. My father is an engineer so I’m looking forward to this. Please check it out.
