Chapter 1 Page 15

February 9th, 2011

Almanac References:  Liaze ToupinMilled, Riverside District

Page 15 is up. It’s a new day, and Jassart is beginning his investigation of the thief who is causing him so much trouble. The first place he starts is with Liaze, who runs a hat shop in Lower City of Sherbourg. She also has quite a number of secrets as you’ll soon see.

In other news, Ricky and Brittany will be attending Katsucon on Feb. 18-20. They both have tables in Artist’s Alley. Ricky will be selling his excellently drawn art while Brittany will have some exquisite handmade jewelry. Drop by and say hello if you’re attending.

I’ve also added a new panel from page 16 as an incentive for voting for us on Top Web Comics. Please give us a shout out on the poll.

Almanac – Slang

February 7th, 2011

Our almanac entry this week is slang. You can find it under Language in the Culture section of the Almanac. I love playing with language and developing the slang – or “cant” – for Sherbourg has been a fun experiment. I began with The Vulgar Tongue by Francis Grose (first published in 1785) but I’ve expanded from that work to include terms from other source as well as those of  my own creation. I have pages of various terms but I’m going to introduce them slowly as the story demands. So expect this section to continually grow throughout the tale.

Chapter 1 Page 14

February 1st, 2011

Almanac Reference: Bread and Butter

Page 14 is up. This page wraps up the Harp and Trumpet scene. I had a lot of fun with this scene and it’s challenged me to become a better letterer. But all good things have come to an end, and the story moves on. Blaise and Jassart have a new quest – to find this thief that is causing them so much trouble.

New incentive panel is up for votes on Top Web Comics.  We appreciate your support.

Almanac – People

January 31st, 2011

I added two new entries to the Almanac today – Alays Maccard and Claudine Nareau. Alays is the server at the Harp and Trumpet who appeared on page 10. Claudine is the spitfire silversmith giving Jassart an earful on page 13.  Both entries may be found under the Merchant heading of the People section in the Almanac. Since the characters have appeared in the comic, these entries also appear on the Cast page.

Also, I’ve uploaded a new incentive panel for those who vote on Top Web Comics. Please vote for us!  We greatly appreciate your support.

Chapter 1 Page 13

January 26th, 2011

Almanac References: Johnny Bum, Ninnyhammer, Scallywag, Shabbaroon

Page 13 is up for your enjoyment. Claudine is quite the little firecracker, even if she’s not very good at expressing her outrage. She is amusing Blaise more than she’s intimidating him. Hmmm, I spy an Almanac entry on the horizon, dealing with Sherbourg slang.

Almanac – Currency

January 24th, 2011

We’ve got another update in the Almanac for you.  On page 8, Jassart makes a comment about “A couple hundred blessings?” Blessings are the coins of the realm, but not the only coins.  Take a look at the Almanac to see all the different types of currency used in Sherbourg.

Don’t forget, a new incentive picture is waiting for those who vote on Top Web Comic.

Chapter 1 Page 12

January 18th, 2011

Almanac References: Belle, Claudine NareauNightwork, Rook

Page 12 is up.  Mathilde joins the boys and passes on a bit of news. As you can see, Mathilde isn’t shy about which of the two she prefers.  I was pleased at how well Brittany brought their interactions to life.

In other news, David Christ of Baldmangames is hosting DDXP 2011 on January 27-30 in Fort Wayne Indiana. If you like tabletop roleplaying games such as Dungeons & Dragons you should consider attending. He’s got some excellent guests from Wizards of the Coast and Paizo, as well as many freelance designers. There will also be games. So many games, including Living Forgotten Realms and the premier of Ashes of Athas, a new shared-world campaign set in the burnt world of Dark Sun.
