Chapter 2 Page 5
July 24th, 2011Almanac Reference: Aileon, Cienan yr Tuathal,
Chapter 2 Page 5 is up and we meet Cienan who is one of my favorite characters. As you might have guessed from the name, he’s not from Saronne. I’ll give some more details about him on Friday in this week’s almanac entry. But I won’t give too many. Cienan’s past is cloaked in mystery which is just the way he likes it.
Otakon is this weekend. I’ll be there with Brittany and Diane. Many of our friends will be there as well — Jen Zyren Smith from LaSalle’s Legacy and Shazzbaa from Today Nothing Happened and Runewriters. For a full list of Artist Alley attendees, check out Otakon’s list.
If you wish to see a preview of Jassart’s reaction to the conversation with Cienan, be sure to vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Almanac – Vivienne de Carailles
July 21st, 2011This week’s almanac entry is the bio for Vivienne de Carailles who joins our cast. As a governor’s daughter in a fantasy story, she has to be beautiful. I think it’s one of those unbreakable rules of fiction. But there’s a lot more to her than just that. You can find her entry both in the Almanac under People > Rulers and under the Cast page.
Otakon is just a week a way. We have a lot of buttons for sale. Here are a few samples. Come by and pick some up!

Chapter 2 Page 4 is up. Jassart is on the prowl while Blaise has his suspicions confirmed.

Chapter 2 Page 3
July 17th, 2011Chapter 2 page 3 is up in which Blaise and Jassart meet a very special lady. As for who she is, she is the subject of this week’s almanac entry which will go up on Friday. And hurray! We’re now posting twice a week. I’m very pleased that we are taking this step. I’m really looking forward to sharing twice as much a week as I was before.
In addition to webcomics, I’m a pretty avid RPGer. In fact, I just had an article published by Wizards of the Coast. If you’re a fan of the Forgotten Realms, then you may enjoy my article on Daggerdale, which brings the dale up to the most recent date of 1480 DR. It’s been getting great feedback on the D&D forums.
Brittany, Diane, and I will be at Otakon at the end of the month. We’ll have buttons and books for sale.
Chapter 2 Page 2

Chapter 2, page 2 is up. We will be switching to two pages a week starting next Monday. As I mentioned earlier this week, Brit has had some family emergencies that have prevented us from going to twice a week at the beginning of the month. She asked me to post the following:
Dear readers, I am sorry to say that the twice-a-week posting of chapter two will be delayed due to karma hitting me full force in a very short amount of time. The saying, “when it rains, it pours,” is an apt description of the deluge I got hit with.
Within a week or so I have lost a dear Aunt, my family’s dog of 17 years had to be put down, and my Mom ended up in the hospital (she’s ok now). I’m usually not one to wave personal problems as an excuse for missing a deadline but circumstances have forced me into an uncomfortable position. Take a week to put myself together and delay the twice-a-week posting or start posting and run the risk of missing an update down the road. After a long discussion with Eric we’ve decided to take the former and delay the dual update schedule for a week or so. We will move up to two posts a week as soon as possible. Again, I’m sorry for the delay in the two pages a week update schedule. Thank you for being understanding and reading Snow by Night.
~Brittany
I love my artist and agreed to delay switching the update schedule for a couple weeks. Fortunately, we’re now back on track. Thank you for your patience and readership.
*edit* Whoops. Forgot to load the new vote incentive on Top Web Comics. It’s up now. So see a preview of what Blaise and Jassart see when you vote for Snow by Night.
Chapter 1 Revisions
July 10th, 2011No almanac entry today. Instead, I have a ton of other updates and a lot of news. First, we are putting together our first chapterbook. This 40-page book has all of chapter 1, the Feathers and Frost vignette, and three pages of new material only available in the chapterbook. While doing the layout for the chapterbook, I came across numerous formatting and lettering issues. I’ve gotten a lot better at lettering since we started so I went back and fixed the lettering throughout the entire chapter. This took the time I had allotted to write the almanac entry, but I felt that this was necessary. The changes have made the pages much easier to read and more pleasing to view.
This brings me to the next bit of news. Brittany and I will be attending Otakon on July 29-30. We will have the brand new chapterbooks and lots of cool buttons. In addition, Brittany will be taking commissions during the convention. We are at table U07 in the Artists Alley. You can find us on this handy map of the Otakon Artist Alley. So come by and have Brittany draw you in colonial garb.
GenCon is also rapidly approaching, and I will be attending. I’m a huge fan of tabletop RPGs. D&D is one of my favorite. I have written a D&D adventure that is premiering at GenCon for the Ashes of Athas campaign. It’s titled AoA3-2 The Veil Parted ,and you can find it in the Sagamore Ballroom with all the other RPGA adventures. If you’re attending GenCon, please give it a try.
Chapter 2 Page 1
July 5th, 2011Chapter 2 begins today with a fabulous image of Cienan yr Tuathal. He will be playing a major role in this chapter, so I wanted to put him front and center. Like the mask? We’ll see more of it soon…
Almanac – Hostelers’ Guild
July 3rd, 2011With the start of Chapter 2 on Wednesday, I’m bringing the almanac back to Sherbourg to discuss the Hostelers’ Guild. This guild covers the auberges (fancy inns), the hostels (not so fancy boarding houses), barbers, dentists, physicians, and brothels. That last one caused quite a stir. Read about it in this week’s almanac entry.
Oh, Brittany and I will be attending Otakon at the end of the month where we will have a table in the Artists’ Alley. Please come by and see us. We’d love to see you.
