The second page of Feathers and Frost is up. Winter makes his appearance and nothing will be the same.
Only two days to Balticon. Brit and I are attending. We’ll have a table in the dealers room, where we will have promo books and some of the cutest buttons you’ve ever seen. I’ll be on a panel on Friday night at 7 pm to discuss making a graphic novel web comic. Please stop by if you’re attending.

This week, I’m posting the first page of the vignette Feathers and Frost. Vignettes are short stories set in the world of Snow by Night. They’re designed to tell stories that are outside the main narrative but have an impact upon the story. Also, they give me an opportunity to work with guestartists. This vignette is illustrated by Eric Schneider of Graphichive. I chose him for this project because he is excellent with animals and birds, which figure prominently in this story. He is a joy to work with and his creations are breathtaking.
Chapter 1 Page 28
May 10th, 2011Page 28 is up and that completes Chapter 1. I already have Brittany hard at work on Chapter 2, which is titled “The Trap.” In this chapter, we meet the dreaded Cienan and possibly find out who is behind the mysterious thefts. It’s going to be a great chapter, and I want to share it with you as quickly as possible. So we’re going to two pages a week when we start posting it on July 4. Our update schedule will be a page on Monday, another on Wednesday, and an Almanac entry on Friday.
So what do I have planned for the interim? Great stuff. Starting next week, I have a 7-page vignette written by me and illustrated by the incredibly talented Eric Schneider. These vignettes (I’ll have one after each chapter) tell stories that relate to the main narrative. I get to explore other characters as well as some of the history and legends of Corthis (the world of Snow by Night). And yes, it will have bearing on the main plot.
Eric Schneider’s art is… wow. Just wow. A preview of this incredible page 1 is our voting incentive on Top Web Comics. Give Snow by Night a vote and see what’s coming.
Chapter 1 Page 27
May 3rd, 2011Page 27 is up. Our band of rogues gets together to compare notes, and they make an astute guess at the mysterious thief’s motives.
We got a shout-out from the SEQLab in their Podcast #163. SEQALab is a podcast by the students, faculty, and staff of the Savannah College of Art and Design. And I’ve uploaded more photos from the SCAD sidewalk festival. Take a look on our Facebook page.
Oh, new incentive panel is up. Please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

Page 26 is up. We return to the Harp & Trumpet where Jassart gets himself in trouble. Just a reminder, we do have a Facebook page and a Twitter feed. Brittany loves to tweet so you’ll get a stream of conscious thoughts from the artist. I highly recommend it. I make announcements on Facebook so it’s a great way to stay up to date.
Aaaaand, I’ve uploaded a preview of Page 27 as an incentive on Top Web Comics. Please vote for Snow by Night.

Added Page 25 today. Ald and Blaise continue their discussion of Blaise’s “loan.” I love what Brittany did with the two children building the snowman in the background.
Convention season is fast approaching. Brittany and I will be attending Balticon over Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30), where we will have a table in Artists’ Alley. We will have a number of new items for sale, including our introductory book — and buttons! In addition, we’ll be part of a panel on Friday night to discuss “Making a Graphic Novel Webcomic” along with Jennifer Zyren Smith of LaSalle’s Legacy and Barb Fischer of Sledgebunny. Make plans to come see us!
Lastly, I’ve uploaded a preview of Page 26 as an incentive on Top Web Comics. Please vote for Snow by Night.

And Page 24 is up. We get to meet one of my favorite characters: Ald. He’s a gendarme (policeman) who is responsible for keeping the peace in the Riverside District. His name came about when Brittany was designing a custom 404 page. I wanted her to draw a picture of a gritty gendarme ready for action. She produced this great drawing of a bearded man holding a lantern up while scowling. Brit and Amy started calling him “Angry Lantern Dude.” It was only a couple short steps from there to A.L.D. and finally Ald.
I uploaded a new incentive panel on Top Web Comics. To see a sneak peek at next week’s page, please vote for Snow by Night.

Page 23 posted. The action moves back to the House of Jacks, where Jassart makes a discovery that he has trouble believing. Will Blaise and Jassart find the elusive thief? Only 5 more pages are left in Chapter 1, so they better hurry.
Speaking of chapters, I’m going to begin posting two pages per week starting with Chapter 2. Comic pages will post every Monday and Wednesday, and I will post a new Almanac entry every Friday. Only one page a week was too slow for me. I have so much I want to share with you all. This update schedule will let me spin the tale twice as fast. My thanks to Brittany and Ricky for stepping up for the additional drawing and coloring.
Finally, I’ve uploaded a new panel from page 24 as an incentive. Please vote for us on Top Web Comics.
