Page 6 of Law of the Riverside Part 2 is up. One of the Phoenix Men asks, “You’re no lawman. What’s this to you anyway?” Ald answers with acts, not words. To see a preview of the final page of Law of the Riverside Part 2, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic. It’s well worth it. I think it might be Naty’s best panel for the entire vignette.

GenCon is coming up this week. I leave on Wednesday. This is going a great convention. I have a book being released (Menzoberranzan: City of Intrigue) and I’m judging a lot of D&D Next, the new version of D&D. It’s a very good system. I’m looking forward to running it and sharing the wonder and imagination with as many people as possible.

Almanac – Morante

August 9th, 2012

This week’s Almanac entry is Morante. This rival nation to Saronne has been mentioned several times in the course of the comic, most recently in Ald’s tale. So I figured it was time to reveal a little bit of information about the country.

GenCon is next week. I’ll be running D&D Next adventures most of the time, showing people the new system for my favorite RPG. We’ll be running interested players through adventures set in Menzoberranzan, which just happens to be the city I wrote a book about. Amazon has updated their records for Menzoberranzan: City of Intrigue to list me as one of the authors.

Page 5 of Law of the Riverside Part 2 is up. The Phoenix Men show why they’re the most dangerous crew in Sherbourg. Naty is excellent at drawing action scenes and she shines on this and coming pages. To see what Grégoire is up to while the other Phoenix Men engage Ald, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

In addition to Snow by Night, I do freelance work for Wizards of the Coast. This month, I have a new book coming out. Menzoberranzan – City of Intrigue. This book describes the legendary city of the dark elves of the Forgotten Realms and contains rules for playing drow. What? You want to see some excerpts with incredible art? Sure, I can do that. Chapter 1: Campaign of Intrigue, Chapter 2: The Way of LolthChapter 3: Drow FactionsChapter 4: The City of SpidersChapter 5: The North Dark, and Chapter 6: Be a Drow. Enjoy!

Page 4 of Law of the Riverside Part 2 is up. Ald forces the issue with the Phoenix Men in a confrontation that reminds him of a scene from his past. To see a sneak preview of Wednesday’s page, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic.

Oh, I wanted to mention that Snow by Night has been getting some reviews. Diane has been posting links to the reviews on our Extras page below the fan art. Check them out and see if you agree with them. I found them interesting.

This week’s Almanac entry is War as Process, which includes the dreadful activity of Make War Feed War. This theory of warfare aims to deprive the enemy of its ability to supply its army. By burning crops and destroying any available resources, attrition starts to take its toll. Dragoons were commonly used for this task and Ald’s company was particularly good at it.
